PSAT Test Scores
The
PSAT/NMSQT Score Report includes 3 scores (each ranging from 20 to 80), for
each section tested: Critical Reading, Math, and Writing. Your score for each
section is based on the number you answered correctly, and the number you
answered incorrectly.
The average Critical Reading, Math, and Writing scores for juniors in high
school is 49.
How to Qualify for National Merit Scholarships
Qualification for National Merit Scholarships is based on a student's combined
score on the PSAT taken during his or her junior year in high school. If your scores qualify
you for recognition, you will be
notified by your school.
What you can Learn from your PSAT Scores
Because the PSAT is a "preliminary" SAT, use your PSAT scores as an indicator
of your strengths and weaknesses. Determine which areas you need to focus on
in order to maximize your SAT score in the future.
